The Future of Commercial Pool Treatment
How Do We Stack Up?
What You're Fighting
Every year, thousands of people are sickened by illnesses caused by germs found in the water we swim in. These illnesses are spread by swallowing, breathing in or having contact with contaminated water in swimming pools, hot tubs, water parks and natural bodies of water.
NEARLY 8 IN 10
Outbreaks of gastrointestinal illness associated with treated recreational water (2003-12) are caused by the parasite Cryptosporidium.
How You've Been Fighting
Cyanuric acid (CYA) is used in pools and spas to reduce the loss of free chlorine due to the sun’s ultraviolet rays. A common type of sanitizer, trichlor, contains 54% CYA. What had long been considered a modest level of CYA stabilizer has now been shown by research to inhibit or “bind” chlorine to an extent that CYA can significantly inhibit chlorine’s ability to inactivate Cryptosporidium.

Plaster Damage
Stabilized sanitizers like trichlor contain cyanuric acid. Cyanuric acid can help stabilize pH and will be measured in a pool water total alkalinity test, but carbonate alkalinity is needed to protect pool surfaces. Low carbonate alkalinity can lead to corrosion and plaster damage.
The calcium in CCH® Endurance Tablets helps to protect the plaster, extending the life of the pool.
